I've been working since sept 2015 at a surgery center in southern ca, I love what I do and I've been cross trained into PACU, PRE OP, SCRUB TECH, getting my IV CERT was the smartest thing I ever did for my career, it has opened up a lot of doors and I'm not limited to passing meds or home visits... Good luck to all!
I'm 3 months in and I finally have a little bit of confidence. The first couple of weeks in, I wanted to quit and run the other way. I was unsure of everything, my charting was not great, I would forget things, and my co-workers would talk about me behind my back instead of trying to help me....it really was bad!!! I have gotten a little better with my med passes, but with the amount of meds needed to be passed, treatments, wounds, AND charting my day is a full load. Most days I work 2-3 hours after the time I'm supposed to get off just to finish charting and paperwork. It's a challenge, but it can be done. I just try and take a deep breathe, relax and pray and tell myself over and over....."this too shall pass." Good Luck on the journey, it has been VERY hard, but totally worth it!!!!!

Hey all
Just wanted to hear how everyones first 3-6 months/year of employment has been.
I am about 5 months in and I enjoy my job.I was really nervous at first be cause I had been out of school about 5 months before I landed a job but the quickly subsided. My only problem is since I'm in an office i feel like I am missing out on some good clinical skills but oh well, Im happy to have a job and have learned what I've learned.
