Thank you all for your support!! :) Although none of us want to leave our jobs, we voted to strike by 94%, which is PHENOMENAL!!! The hospital says it fully intends to stay staffed and will use traveler and agency nurses to do so. We have done our research and know what they will be paying out for our replacements, but they can't afford to give us a raise??? 4 days to D-Day; maybe they will return to the table with a decent offer.... We only want to provide the best care to our patients, and that takes its toll on our personal lives, as you know; and, yes, we should be monetarily compensated for that! We are already at the bottom of the heap when it comes to hourly rates (due to government reimbersement or lack thereof by Medicare, or so that's the excuse we get from management). We have a HUGE elderly population here. I will try to keep you posted as to any progress. Thanks again, all, and your continued support will be greatly appreciated. Again, we are in Sioux City, Iowa, our local newspaper is the Sioux City Journal, if you want to keep up there.

I will say a prayer for you and your fellow nurses. I hope it all works out. Good luck and stay strong!
