This is an update on my former thread: https://allnurses.com/general-nursing-discussion/inefficient-training-first-574791.html
[summary: I quit my nursing home job because of inefficient training, not enough staff, too many patients, employers who didn't care, etc.]
2 days later, I get called for an interview on a telemetry/med-surg floor at a hospital!! This is the 2nd call-back I've ever gotten after applying to sooo many places for months now.
And the interview is right before I take the NCLEX! lol
Whoever said "When one door closes, another door opens" is completely right...
OK girls, make some of this GOOD LUCK rub off on me!
I too had minimal training and lack of support on my first job and left because of it (and an unfortunate incident that occurred concerning my safety) BUT I haven't been able to find a new job as of yet. It's been over a month and I've applied (and re-applied) to almost every place around here (Northeast PA). I need something to come up soon!
Good luck to you on the interview and the NCLEX!
I'm sure if you read the questions carefully and pull them apart to make sure you understand exactly what it is they are asking you will do just fine. Take your time, don't rush! There is plenty of time, really! Oh and think systems so that you can pull upon your knowledge of them IF you should be uncertain of the correct answer right off the bat.
All the best! :redpinkhe

Practice common interview questions in front of a mirror. i looked up behavioral interviews questions (weakness/strength for example). It would also probably be good to be prepared to talk about past nursing experiences and what you did right/wrong and what you learned. Also, be ready to answer critical thinking type questions about case studies. Good Luck!!
