UofP? Anyone else hate group projects?

I am doing the healthcare admin / informatics. I did my first project. I hated it. My group members didnt really participate so I took over did mostly everything and told them to add a sentence or two and that was it. I hate grroup projects because you automatically pick up someones slack because you dont want it to effect your grade!

Add me to the list of folks who hate group projects. I did my ADN to BSN and MSN at UofP. Some hints:

1. Clearly write out who will be the leader for each project during the class (do this the first week of the course).

2. Each leader has to have specific parts that each member will do and the due date.

3. The first deadline should be at least one week prior to the final (teacher's) due date. This allows for revisions.

4. Anyone that does not come up with their share of the project gets their name deleted off the final project. (Had to do this a couple of times. I always did everything in writing with a cc to the instructor so there was a paper trail. Got sick and tired of my grade suffering because of one lazy student.)

Thanks. I'm on my 3rd class. This group is so flaccid, and it is frustrating. We have one member who only checks in once a week even though you can see her posting to the main forum. Our final ppt is due Monday. I made the deadline for last Saturday. This member (Jane Doe JD) did not post her portion. I have extended it to Thursday. But she doesn't even respond to posts. I have posted my complaint to the instructor.

This team just sucks. Only one other person actually gets involved. JD doesn't bother and the other two post the bare minimum - they post THEIR portions of the projects, but never post any suggestions for the final project. I feel like I am doing the work all by myself.

I can't wait for this class to be over. I hate group projects. Hate them. There are only two kinds of people : Those who don't want to do anything and those who want to do EVERYTHING.
