unpaid leave

hey guys,

Has anybody got any experience with requesting and taking unpaid leave from your hospital for whatever reason, be it, for vacation time, sickness, family matters etc.

I am concerned about only accruing 2 weeks of PTO over a 1 year period and would like to hear other peoples experience.

With my current employer I have 6 weeks of paid leave per year and can make that into 3 weeks off 3 times per year with self rostering.

Any info helps, thanks ?
