UNLV SON Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Super early posting this, however I felt like I wanted a page to get started! :)

I applied last semester with a 92.1 but I am retaking the HESI in hopes I can bring it up!

The cut off for last Spring was a 91.10 according to my advisor!

Hello you guys! How did you guys calculate your points I'm having a little bit of trouble. I hope to apply for the Fall 2018.

@happiness_love So I calculated it by finding first my gpa for nursing courses multiplying that by 10. Then adding the amount of points from attempts. Then for the HESI adding all the scores dividing them by 8.75. Sum off all that is your app score is from what I understand at least. If it's still confusing I'm sure you're advisor can give you the worksheet where it explains how and what to add!

What are you guys applying with if you don't mind me asking? I'm racking in with a 96.04 this time around :) hopefully that's good enough lol

That's awesome! You'll definitely get in. I'm applying with 91.3, so I'm hoping for a cutoff like last Spring. :(

I'm routing for all of us so I'm hoping the cut off goes down as well. This past fall was shocking to me lol.

I will also be applying for spring ! I will be taking the Hesi soon but I'm super nervous about it. My grades are pretty good and I will be applying with all A's and two B+. Hopefully I do well on the Hesi since that all I have left to do. Any adive of how to do amazing on it ?

The HESI was actually way easier than I thought! I finished the Anatomy part in less than 10 minutes! I actually just studied my notes (general terms) and lab book! If you have taken anatomy recently, you will be fine. For the math part, I just studied the main HESI book and took a couple of practice tests online! Be sure you are comfortable with fractions! The reading comprehension was very easy, the questions were direct to the point and they allow you to reread the entire section if you want! I did not really study for this part and still got 96%.

My BSN signing session was yesterday and there were about 13 applicants including a couple of people at their 2nd attempt and some 93s and 92s! Applications will be evaluated on (November 1-15th) and they will start calling people to let them know that they got in the program starting on November 1st! They said that we can call them and ask if we got in or not only AFTER Nov 15th! Top 48 students will be chosen based on points generated from the 6 main pre-req courses. Contract signing for people that got accepted in the program starts Nov 9th. Full acceptance means that you have completed all your pre-reqs and conditional acceptance means you have 1 or more pre-reqs in progress. You must submit your HESI scores by November 1st to be considered for Spring 2018 nursing program. If you repeated a class, they will only look at your latest grade and not the highest grade. If you changed your mind about starting the nursing program in the spring semester, you must withdraw your application before Nov 1 or it will be counted as 1 attempt. Good luck everyone!! I really hope we all get in!

"will be chosen based on points generated from the 6 main pre-req courses". They still take into account our hesi scores correct ?

Yes and HESI only! They don't look for recommendation letters, other extra curricular activities, volunteer work etc.

Hi guys! It will be my first time applying :) I have a question. How come I hear people saying that Fall cut off was high? Is that a normal score? My advisor told me that 93 would be a good score. I am new to the "point" system lol
