I wanted to start a thread for Fall 2013 UNLV School of Nursing hopefuls!

Glad my signing session is over...one step closer. The advisor said we should have an answer no later than July 15th. A phone call means you are "in."

Good luck to everyone and God bless!! Oh and congrats Miami Heat!

Hey I was there as well :) I was the one talking to the blonde girl and I was wearing a blue dress hahah. I'm glad its over too! I'm going to be so anxious waiting to find out! Good luck to you, I hope we both get in!

Hello all and hey Drea,

As far as points go it's divided by 22 OR 23 depending on when you took Nursing 299 because it use to be 4 units so now it's 3 so be careful on your calculations. For your Hesi points the easiest/shortcut way to calculate is take your average, multiply by 4 and divide by 8.75. For example 90 * 4 = 360 / 8.75 = 41.14.

I finished all my prereqs this Spring and I have 93.27 points. The 89 cutoff was not a fluke the program does seem to be getting more competitive. At the end of the day all you can do it retake HESI (if you haven't already) and retake some of the core prereqs to boost your score. Once you have done that then you have done all you can. Good luck to everyone. We will see soon what happens around mid July ish.

Isn't the total credit hours 27 points?

I took my HESI twice and I wasted money bcus I didn't do better. My A&P was only 25 questions and it asked about 10 questions I was familiar with and about 15 that we didn't ever cover on A&P I and II, not was it in the study guides. I kno they have tons of test pools so hopefully those that are retaking will get a better selection than I did.

Soo i retook my hesi today and had the same problem.. I did worse!! The anatomy section did not have anything covered in our study assessment books for the hesi.. It seemed to me that stuff was from A&P1 from lab that stuffnwasncovered vaguely because i barely remembered any of it..... Math was harder for me as well...It sucks, i literally cried for an hr in my car after i finished my exam.... Overall i did much worse and didnt pass math or a&p .. Inguess i wouldnhave to stick with my old exam... Keeps me at 83.5 and i know thats not enough:unsure::no:

No....the reason being is being the two chem classes you see listed are now just one chem class (Chem 108) and nursing 299 is worth 3 units now. That's an old form. So the credit hours are as follows:

Bio 223: 4 units

Bio 224: 4 units

Bio 251: 4 units

Chem 108: 4 units

Nurs 299: 3 units

Math 120/124: 3 units

So total 22 units

Sorry to hear that....just pray and try to keep an open mind!

That makes sense! I'm slightly concerned because I took chem back when it was still the two diff classes (which was awful btw) so I hope I calculated my points correctly!

Thanks for the clarification Missunique99. However, my counselor told me that my total unit will be 27 because I took chem 110 and 111 and my nursing 299 was 4 units. He basically said the total points depends on what chem student takes and nursing 299 unit.So different people will have different total unit score.

My friend just had her signing session and they said its 124 applicants....WOW!!! That's a pretty scary number.

Just had my signing session today. It has made me so nervous, but there is nothing I can do now. I heard a lot of people at the signing session planning on applying to different schools because they had no hope that they could be accepted. The level of competitiveness for the UNLV Nursing School is getting a little ridiculous. If scores in the 80s were enough to get into the school last year, they should be enough this year. I hope UNLV starts accepting more applicants in the future. I think my score is 86-87. I got a 93% overall on the Hesi a2 test. I only took it once. Maybe I should take it again to get close to a 100%. I also have Biol 224 missing. I'm taking it this summer semester. The best of luck to everyone applying for the fall semester.

I agree the program at UNLV is getting ridiculously competitive. They should maybe do 48 in the daytime and 48 in the evening or something along those lines. I have 93.27 points and if that's not enough to get in that seems close to crazy. Anyhow, only time will tell. Good luck to everyone and remember when one door closes another opens. Don't give up on your dreams and continue to pursue your goals. I am looking forward to see posts from those that get in soon.
