University of Wyoming RN-BSN online - Clinical Component

Published

Hello! Does anyone know if the University of Wyoming still has a clinical component for the RN-BSN online program for 2013? I browsed through previous threads (2011) that mentioned NURS 4975 Professional Practicum requires 120 hours of clinical (8 hours per week over the course of the 15 week semester in some type of community-based nursing). However, the University of Wyoming's website states that there currently isn't any clinical component in the program. Also, NURS 4975 is no longer listed under their nursing classes. Am I to assume that there really is NO clinical component?? Or is it hidden in another nursing course? I just want to make sure that NO clinical component really means NO clinical component. Lol! Thanks!!

hello!

I was the last class that had the clinical last spring. I believe that you do some type of community project/paper now whereas we had to do that as well as hours. But it was very painless anyway you look at it. I would just call and ask them. From their website here is the info on the course:

NURS 4985 - RN/BSN Capstone Information

Course Description: This capstone course synthesizes program concepts through analysis of a documented public health issue. Students use evidence based resources, address public health competencies and analyze how the identified issue and interventions impact the health of the affected population. Prerequisites: All required courses in the nursing major; NURS 4055, 4255, 4355 or concurrent enrollment; current RN license. (RN/BSN)

good luck!

National American University doesnt have a clinical component & have heard great things about there program! Its fully online too.

I'm curently enrolled in the UWYO RN-BSN online program. First of all - I have to tell you that it is cheap FOR NOW but they are increasing their proces over the next year or two and they will be just as expensive as everybody else. Second - they are a very traditional brick and mortar and as such I am finding the online program not very flexible... at all. Third - the pharmacology class - id HORRIBLE AND DISGUSTINGLY TAUGHT and I am HOPING BEYOND ALL REASONABLE HOPE that it is not representative of what I have to look forward to. I am so disappointed in this program so far....

With that said.... I have been reassured MULTIPLE times that there is no clinical portion. That the senior "capstone" project is researching a community and it's resources - and will involve contacting/researching public health resources of a community in you area.

If you want cheap - UWYO is the way to go for the next year or so. If you want quality, flexible, reasonable towork with, quality ONLINE instruction..... DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!!!!!!!!!
