Could anyone who has experience at the University of Washington Medical Center help me understand the difference in the patient population in the CCU vs. CTICU? I get that the CTICU is mostly post-surgical patients but I'm wondering acuity-wise if both units see CRRT, ECMO, LVADs...thanks!

When I worked at the UWMC, they were both on the same unit. Is that no longer true? We saw CRRT, HD, and plenty of LVADs, RVADs and BiVADs. Are you talking 5SE?
Yes, 5SE! So online it says CTICU is 5SA and CCU is 5SE (I haven't been on the units so I didn't know the difference between A and E haha). Is the only difference basically that the surgical patients end up on CTICU side? Would you apply to/get hired on one or the other "unit" or do nurses often work on both? Thank you for your response
I've been away for a dozen years or so, but I've never heard of 5SA. Sorry I can't help.
