Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone got in the BSN program at UTPA. I am worried because I have a gpa of 3.5 but still need 8 more classes. What is it that they look overall gpa or just the sciences? What is the average gpa per year if anyone knows?

Hey Joey2015. Did you end up applying to UTPA? I've looked into their program, but I don't like that the NURS-Wellness pre-requisite has to be taken at their campus before you can even apply. I live in San Antonio, so I'd have to move down there. It seems like they want to focus their enrollment on nearby residents and make it hard on anyone who doesn't live in the valley.

Hi Melissa,

No I haven't applied yet but will sure be doing it. I am lacking 8 more classes in order to apply including the wellness class. Have you applied? What is your GPA?

I havent applied yet, because the NURS Wellness pre-req. has to be taken on their campus. This school is a last option, because i live 5 hours away from there currently. I'm going to try to get into one of the local schools, before I decide to move. Plus, I would have to move down there to take the last pre-req, before i could even apply. Its seems dumb that they don't offer that class online, for the people that dont live in the valley.

My GPA is only 3.22 overall.... I hope that is competitive enough.

Hey Andy,

No I haven't applied into the BSN program at UTPA due to the fact that I am still lacking just 5 more classes. I will be applying until next year for fall 2014 since by then I will have all of my pre-classes done and over with, so far I have a 3.6 gpa, but should be higher since I still need more classes. How about you? How many more classes do you need, and when do you plan in applying?

Hey I am interested in applying to the program but i have researched online how to apply and I haven't found anything. Is it an in person application?

Hey has anyone applied for the Fall 2014 Admission, I am wondering how they consider admission, is it based solemnly on GPA?

I didn't applied but the advisor told me it is based on the overall gpa, science gpa, and several other factors like W,F. They do look at everything. I decided to apply with Texas A&M in Corpus, waiting anxiously for decision letter should arrive this week or next.

I was planning on applying at texas a&m as well, why didn't you apply at utpa if you don't mind me asking what are your stats?

Texas A&M was my first choice since it is only one year and half to finish there BSN program. My stats are 3.44 overall gpa and 3.50 science gpa. TAMUCC they look at your overall score for the last 60 hours. I believe that both are great universities.
