University of South Florida Upper Division Nursing 2021

Published

Hi everyone! I haven't seen a topic for the USF Upper Division Nursing Program for 2021. I am currently a USF student who has applied to the program beginning this Fall, and I thought it would be amazing if we got a community going to encourage each other throughout this process!

Congratulations!! How you were notify? SOAR, email? Thanks!

I was notified through SOAR and my email.

Hi guys,

I just got off the waitlist this morning, so don't give up hope! Stay positive and good things will come your way. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall!

If anyone starting Upper Division this fall wants to stay in touch, my instagram is the same as my allnurses username!

Hi everyone, I will be applying for upper division next year (freshman now), if the people that got accepted or that got waitlisted and then accepted wouldn’t mind sharing your stats? Just to see what the average was this year. I currently have a 3.7 GPA and I plan on raising it but I’m really struggling in Microbiology so I’m hoping for the best. Do you all have tips for the online interview process?

Did anyone get in with something lower than a 3.9??

I was admitted with an overall GPA score of 3.84 and 3.76 prerequisites GPA. I think the most important thing when it comes to the interview is to be yourself. The interview does play a huge role in getting accepted. I think it would be a good idea to practice for the interview process through career services and/or to look for online resources for interview prep. Just be true to yourself when it comes to answering. Good luck!

Thank you for replying and the advice!! I’m definitely more nervous about the GPA than the interview but I’ll prepare for it a lot

I did have a 4.0 and I got accepted, but I also would give the same advice. Once you get selected for an interview, GPA isn't a big factor. They primarily use the GPA to make interview decisions. GPA could be a small factor in the overall decisions, but the interview definitely has the largest weight on final decisions. Although my GPA was very good I practiced so much for the interview because I knew how important it was! Brainstorm times that you used skills that are valuable for nursing (doesn't have to be in a healthcare setting) and be ready to explain/apply those stories to answer questions. Let your passion shine through and they'll see that!

Yes I agree with Anna! Getting comfortable answering questions is key. Since ours was virtual I practiced answering questions and recording myself. I think that’s what really helped me be prepared during my interview. Being prepared will help you do well! Good luck to all.
