University of Phoenix for RN - BSN, then MSN

Hello All!

I'm fairly new to this board and have found it so useful thus far! I am looking to start for my BSN online this Winter. My husband is an active duty service member and I'm looking to stay as busy as possible during these next 2 years while he's deployed.

I am very interested in UOP due to their accreditation, flexibilityand the fact that they're all online. I'm planning on going part-time at work (Two 12 hour shifts a week).

If anyone could add their input on the college (i.e.-why they did, or did not choose UOP, what they liked/disliked about UOP, how many house per week were spent studying, etc.) I would GREATLY appreciaite it! TIA!

Hey, Lauren! Welcome to the board. :)

One of my team leaders started with UoP for her BSN, but she disliked the set-up -- there were a lot of group projects, and she didn't have a great experience with that portion. I guess she ended up in too may groups in which other students dropped the ball, and she had to carry the whole team. She's since gone with Excelsior College for her RN-BSN, and likes that format better -- still a lot of discussion groups online and writing papers like UoP, but none of the group projects.

Other people here have really enjoyed UoP, so I guess it's luck of the draw on getting a good group!

I made enquiries a couple of years ago but did not go with them. You have to sign on so many times a week at certain times. There were some other things I didn't like. One of the girls I work with has just got her BSN and is going on for her MSN. I think I'll be going with Jacksonville.
