University of Oklahoma ABSN- Duncan applicants???

Published

Is there anyone out there that has applied to OU's ABSN program in Duncan???

I specifically asked about the enrollment requirements because I was concerned about being able to fit in a cpr class, immunizations, and background checks prior to January 7th (deadline listed on website). If you go to the website, select current students->orientation->Lawton/Duncan. They are allowing almost no time to complete the enrollment requirements, especially for those out of state. Plus, I don't want to sped the money on all of these things if I don't end up being accepted. Just as a heads up, if you don't physically go to OKC to get your state background check, it takes about 4 weeks to get it in the mail.

Thanks for the information... Looks like i'll have to drive all the way to OKC for the background check if i get accepted... My mail has already come today and still nothing... I can't believe they would make us wait this long... Have you heard anything else?.. Apparently them "hoping to get letters out this week" didn't happen... I wonder if it has taken this long for them to send out letters in the past?

I'm going to have to drive up there as well once I find out. I live in Lawton, OK and I'm having trouble finding a cpr class that I can take between now and the deadline because of the holidays. I'm thinking I'm going to have to go to OKC for that as well. I haven't checked the mail yet but I'm pretty sure there isn't anything there. This has been driving me nuts, I actually looked on the boards and I found a thread from last year where someone received a denial letter at the end of December. Well, good luck to you, maybe we'll get something tomorrow.

I meant, the end of November.

I called and they told me my I was accepted, but I still do not have a letter. I am wondering if anyone is interested in car pooling from Lawton to Duncan, and if anyone knows about the schedule first semester. I am so excited!

Congrats!! After I saw your post to the other thread I went to the mailbox to look and my acceptance letter was there. It looks like orientation is January 6 from 9am-1pm. I'm really excited. I was worried about the cpr courses but the letter states that there will be a sign up for cpr classes at the orientation. I was hoping to find someone to carpool with, so I'm definitely interested.

Hey, congrats to those who got in. My wife and I are looking to relocate that way from Georgia - I've actually got the car loaded and will leave shortly to make the drive out. We know almost nothing about the area, but I'd like to get this degree done, so we're going to take the chance - every other program I looked at didn't start until August, cost $60,000, or BOTH.

You guys who are thinking of carpooling from Lawton, I'd love to hear more about that possibility. Also, any advice on where to or not to live, that sort of thing, would be great. I'd also love to meet up with anyone in town during my visit - I'll get there tomorrow morning and plan to leave Wednesday afternoon (via OKC to do my background check). Feel free to PM me on here or send me a message a [email protected] . Congrats to everyone.

Congrats to everyone else.... I got my acceptance letter this morning.. Finally.... I'm probably going to drive up there later this week and try and find a place to live.... I would also like some information about where to, and where not to live if anyone knows anything about the area.. Also I was hoping they have a decent gym somewhere in duncan but couldn't find much online, so if anyone knows anything about that please share... I really don't want to have to drive all the way to lawton to workout... Maybe the hospital has a gym?? I'm pretty excited about everything and looking forward to meeting everyone at orientation....

Congrats to everyone! I am excited to meet up with you all. We are going to be a small class so we should learn to study togeather now. I hope we have the chance of meeting up soon. As far as a gym in Duncan, I do not know. I know a little about Lawton, but thats it.

Do you know how many people are going to be in our class? How long does it take to drive from lawton to duncan?

Hi guys. Congrats on your acceptance. I was just in Duncan today and there is a nice gym at the Simmons Center that is about a mile away from where we will be going to class. If I have enough time that's where I will be going after class.

Could any of you that accepted and attended this program tell me what your experience was/is? I have recently been accepted to begin in January 2012! Any insight on what your experience has been, how your clinicals are, what the instructors are like and if you feel you have gotten the value for the price, I would be greatly interested. Also does everyone live in Duncan and commute? What housinig options are there? Is there time for fun and if so, what do you do? Thanks so much!
