Has anyone applied to UHV Second Degree BSN program for Spring 2012?
Virginiadawn,
You know who I was! I was in the blue group! haha!
Congrats to all who got accepted! We are so happy that you are now a part of our family! The hard part of waiting and trying to impress is over....and now comes the REALLY HARD PART!
Rest up and put your boots on, cause next year is gonna be one tough ride! :welcome:
P.S. I love the fact that yall already have a facebook page made. We also have a facebook page. One thing to be aware of: The nursing faculty IS reading your facebook posts if it is an open group.
So...either make the group private (and only members can see what is said) or keep it generic. And don't use any faculty names. Trust me on this one.
And as always...if you have any questions...ask away.
Congrats Everyone! :grpwlcm:
So sorry I didn't get to meet you all on interview day. I was finishing my very last clinical before graduating next week! :grad:
You will find that your classmates become a part of your extended family. You guys are going to go through A LOT together. Support eachother, build eachother up, and remember you all are going through this together.
Be prepared to hit the ground running on your first day. They hit the nursing process pretty hard and FAST on the first day, so don't feel bad if you have no idea what is going on. Try to do some reading before the first day of class. Some of the professors will call you out to see if you are prepared. I got called on the very first day in Pharm, and luckily had done my readings. So, I was able to answer correctly. That prof has always had high levels of respect for me after that. Study hard, read, read, and read some more. Eventually, it all starts to make sense.
I saw some people mention they are at Cinco Ranch. Very few classes are actually held there. It a very small campus. You most likely will only be there for one day of the week. The rest of the week you are in Sugarland, and one day a week, at your clinical location. Speaking of clinical. You will do clinical on the first or second week most likely. Don't be nervous. The very first time in clinical you will observe only. If you have been checked off on vitals, then you may do that skill only. You are paired up with nurses, so don't worry, you are not thrown out into the world of nursing all by yourself.
I can tell you guys are going to be a great class. You really remind me of what our class has been like this year. Whatever formula they have for choosing the student's works, because we have had an amazing group of students this year. It seems like they have picked another wonderful group for 2012!
Just think this time next year you will be graduating! Hard to believe, but it's true. You have a long HARD road ahead, but if you want it bad enough, it is doable. I have a sign in my house that says, "Never, Never, Never Give Up!" Words to live by for this program.
Best of Luck class of 2012! :w00t:

@cricket13 I know there is a uhv school of nursing facebook page already but if someone wants to create a page specifically for the 2012 students do it!
