Hi everyone, I'm opening up this forum as applications have opened for Fall 2025. Hoping we could use this platform as a way to send updates, ask questions about the applications, etc! Has anyone submitted yet? ☺️
Hello,
I got my acceptance email for the MS-APHN two days ago. I was on the alternate list last year and submitted the same application content (letters, etc.)this year. I have 2 B's on my prereqs and a BA in Public Admin (3.9). I have no significant healthcare experience other than NA and hospital purchaser a couple of years ago. Currently, I am a federal government employee and may need to quit that job for the nursing program. Three of my prereqs will expire before the start of the nursing program, re-taking them all this Spring semester. If anyone wants to create a group chat for this cohort please add me. Mahalo.
Congrats Y'all,

Congratulations everyone!!
I created a group on Facebook for us, link attached below. If link isn't working, then search on Facebook (UH Manoa GEPN Cohort 18). 😊

is everyone commuting from home? I'm thinking about going for the graduate dorms for gepn since I live on Hawai'I island, but they told me before I applied I should be able to do most of the dnp portion in my hometown

I live in Kaneohe and will be commuting into town for the whole program! It would be nice to live closer to campus for the gepn year, but that won't be an option for me. The graduate housing will be really convenient.
They said you'd be able to complete most of the DNP from Hawaii Island?

Yeah, since the classes are predominantly remote, it's more a question of clinical sites. I'm planning on practicing in Hilo/East Hawai'I so I'd rather have placements here, plus my immediate family is here. We thought about all moving but long story short I don't want to pull my son from his Hawaiian immersion school, especially since it's hard to get him into one on O'ahu. So it's just going to be me on O'ahu for the GEPN portion, and I'll just try to fly back whenever I can. Tough, but gotta do what's best for the keiki.

Ah that completely makes sense. I have a 2nd grader and completely understand we gotta do what is best for them. It looks like we both got into the PMH program, hopefully we can connect beforehand if there is anything you need to help with the transition over here!!
