Hello everyone
I guess I'll start a potential conversation with this topic!
I am currently in the process of waiting to hear if I am accepted to the University of Calgary's nursing program as a degree holder. I also took the Anatomy and Physiology class (bill 235) offered by Athabasca. I finished it on August 29th and managed to get an A in the class. It just took a tooonnnn of reading (twice over) to get through the class. I managed to finish in five months, but I'd say if you're not working it could be done in 4 months, maybe even less than that.
I studied outside of Canada though and I've had to send in several outlines as far as the requirements go. I sent in two different English course outlines and just one for an Arts course. I'm still waiting for my Athabasca transcript to be accepted by UofC. They say that they order it on your behalf, so I just keep checking to see if it disappears on the "to-do" list. One thing I would warn people about - if you're taking online classes to meet a specific deadline - I found out that despite taking a final exam, they can take as long as 4-6 weeks to post your final grades! I ended up having to make a couple phone calls/emails to get my grade posted ASAP. So if you are trying to finish an online class by a certain date, make sure you finish with a few weeks for your grade to get processed and posted after your final!
From everything I've read online, I'm not expecting to hear anything regarding their decision until at least October :/ .Waiting is absolutely the worst of it. The application is very simple and you really just need to make sure your transcripts/outlines get in and that's about it. I honestly have no clue as to what GPA(s) are considered in/out though. I've read posts about needing 3.7's to get in and posts about 3.07's to get in. I've also read 3.4's are the cut off's at the same time... so who really knows! I think my GPA will come out around a 3.6-3.74 depending on which grade they choose to include from my second to last semester.
It all just seems like a big gamble! But here's to hoping!
Hope everyone else going through this process is finding it manageable and is surviving the stress of waiting!!
