I applied to the U of C Winter 2017 program! I took the Athabasca University A/P course and haven't done well in it due to some family health issues that have taken most of my time. It is strange for me as that course comes in way below what i am used to getting. I have a 89.46 major average at the University of Waterloo. Unfortunately due to the uniqueness of my program there, most of those high average courses wont transfer and they will probably end up taking my lowest marks. I am really confused about how they calculate averages though. I know that an 80-84 is a 3.7 but then it drops to 77-79.9 is a 3.3. So how do we know what is in between that? Also i have courses transferring from an exchange in Australia but they wont tell me what they translate to in my GPA. I think that i am actually about to go crazy from the anxiety that i feel not knowing these things! It is 1 am and i am frantically searching for answers when i work at 4 am. Can anyone help me out? Also when i called they told me that the cutoff is 3.07 BUT that the faculty will release a higher one later on. Good luck everyone! :)

Hi, I've also applied to the Jan 2017 nursing program as a transfer student. a GPA of ~3.4-3.6 would probably include some percentages between 75-80 depending on your marks. If you have more 80's, you'll get closer to a 3.6.

With your Australian courses, I don't know how you could calculate those in. Talk to the senior admissions officer Dipti and she could probably help you.

I myself am starting to feel more anxiety with waiting for a reply soon, I have a GPA of 3.7 from my past 10 courses and don't know how my chances look, or how early they will start telling us. Would love to hear some feedback from other applicants!

I too have applied for the 2017 winter (the degree-holder route) and am dying to hear. I had a 3.44 last year and didn't get in so I did some course and now sit at 3.6. Fingers crossed that the applicant average hasn't increased again. They usually start making offers to the highest GPA and then move down from there. So any 3.8-4.0 will likely have received offers already or will soon. Keep an eye on the status in your U of C portal, that's usually pretty up to date. Good luck to you all!

There is no "between". If you got a 79.9 it's a 3.3. If you got an 80, it's a 3.7. Hope that helps!

Hello everyone! I have decided because of certain family issues happening at home that i will hold off until next September to go to school for Nursing. I am still really confused about how they calculate my GPA though. Do they transfer each grade from a percentage into a GPA and then get the average GPA? Because if they calculate my average through percentages and then convert it to a GPA i am above a 3.7, but if they transfer each grade to a GPA and then get the average of them i am much lower... Can anyone help me out?

They convert all your percentages to GPA, add them up and take the average. They only count the last ten courses so if you want to calculate, take the last ten you did (and if there are say 4 from a semester and you need two to make up your ten they will take the highest two), convert each one to its GPA value, add, then divide by ten and you'll get the number they use for admissions. I'm a 4.0er (I really like school...) so I'm not a good gauge for where they're at. I wonder how long people have to decide to accept a seat. I hope we see you there! When I asked before I applied, they said sometimes it can take up to October to find out.

Hi Amigone, did your status change from "the Recruitment and Admissions Office has received sufficient documents to begin an evaluation of your application" to something else before you got in?
