University of Arizona DNP Nurse Anesthesia

Published

Hello All!

I just wanted to get a forum started to see who's all applying for the University of Arizona's DNP Nurse Anesthesia program for Summer 2017?

Hello! I was looking at applying here. I am studying and need to pass my CCRN before I can. So hopefully, if I pass that within the next 2 weeks I can submit my application!

Specializes in ICU.

I have a friend that was accepted into the program for next year!

Specializes in RN-BC, CCRN, TCRN, CEN.

I was considering applying and I met with the director, (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) last year. She was very helpful and down to earth. The only issue I have is the lack of critical care experience and now the CCRN requirement. I am also very leary of the large portion of the program that is online. I would like to see their pass rate first, but I also don't want to miss out while it is still fairly less competitive to get into. What are your thoughts on that?

That's awesome! Is there anyway you could ask your friend a few questions for me and the others that will be following this thread? What was the interview like? What should we expect them to ask in the interview? What is the area around the campus like? When did they apply and how long did it take to hear something back from the program?

I think you should meet the minimum requirements that the program has and apply. There will always be concern about pass rate and such with every program. Be the student that makes a program have a high pass rate :) Don't miss out on an opportunity to begin grad school if you can help it.

Krush,

I know, and I'm thinking about applying because I could, in theory, have the year of critical care experience by the time the program started. I am tempted to take a CCRN prep course and just go for it, but I said the same thing about my CEN and I've yet to take that test. And if I don't get in this year, I would at least be on the committee's mind for the next cycle around, which would be better timing for me anyway.

I just completed my application tonight!

Specializes in Critical Care, ER.

I sent my application in last week :)

What were her credentials?

I applied as well. Got my CCRN and hit my 1 year of experience right on time.
