Members are discussing their experiences and considerations regarding the U.S. University Primary Care FNP Program. Topics include enrollment process, payment plans, accreditation status, program intensity, clinical rotations, professors, and overall satisfaction with the program. Some members are seeking advice on choosing a nationally accredited program and the effectiveness of on-campus intensives in preparing for clinical practice.
Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!

Hi,
For USU, you will need to look for your own preceptors...they have a list of clinics. You can call one by one and ask if they are taking students.
Thanks

I had applied to several universities and what I have found is even those who say they guarantee you placement still generally rely on you helping with that. Some placements I asked about were three hours away or even out of state in some cases. I am not in a saturated area, per se, but I am in an area where the main teaching hospital holds contracts with most clinical facilities for their APRN programs making it difficult at best to find sites. I do believe that we will all find what we need at the time we need it.

I have not heard nice things about chamberlain. I currently know 5 of their students who are now in USU. Walden does not have a good reputation with most clinical sites. Most people say they are a diploma mill. Colorado technical university is currently being investigated due to misuse of funds (I would Google for more info). This is not to discourage you from attending the other schools. I am just passing on what I have heard. I am in my fifth class at USU and I would say my only complaint is that communication sucks. You ask the same question, but you get different answers from everyone. They do not help you secure clinical sites. I went this route because it was the cheapest I could find.

I looked into all these universities and a lot more. I was accepted to some excellent programs, but in the end, decided against a ton of debt. I weighed the whole for profit debate our and after talking to recruiters in my area, decided in this area it won't matter. I went with USU and then decided not to continue. Seven weeks later I restarted.
I also looked into Colorado Tech since I live in Colorado. Just like USU, they have some bad press. USU was bought out and revamped. Colorado Tech had primarily surrounding their MBA program. The warning they were given was some time ago, but fiscal responsibility is still being managed.
I like the education platform of CTU more than USU. I'm in week five of the first class at USU currently. I don't like that CTU does not have a graduating class and have no forum where you can speak to other students. Their first graduating class has 5 students and they complete the decree December of this year, so stats will likely start being available Spring of 2021. I was told one of those five students did not pass the intensive weekend and has to repeat a course.
There is more contact with instructors at CTU. There's a weekly call you can join if you have time. If not, it's recorded. Like other online institutions, you have discussion posts every week. CTU runs one 16 week course with two 8 week courses, so you are almost always in two classes at a time. USU has one 8 week course at a time for the first year. There second year you have an online course with a clinical component.
Both schools require you find your own clinical sites and preceptors.
You may have all this info but thought I'd share what I know. Best of luck!
Hi everybody
I am in the process of the aplication hopefully I will start on may I saw this statement on the course delivery part of the program
interact with computer-simulated patients, and actively examine case studies.
Can you please elaborate more on this ,like how this works.also about the lectures is it recorded or live ,how it will be delivered
Thank you
I'm due to start May 5th. I have been accepted to both Maryville University ($43,000)and US University ($27,000). Both start at the same time. This feed has been so helpful. I was about to discount going to US University, but now am leaning towards it. I'm 54 and am from Utah. Anyone else in the May cohort for US University? I can be reached at [email protected]. Thank you. Robin
