Some members are seeking advice on choosing a nationally accredited program and the effectiveness of on-campus intensives in preparing for clinical practice.
Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!
Hello!
I just signed up today! Nervous and excited! I start October 29. I will be doing one class every 8 weeks. I’m in no hurry. My questions are:
1. Are the Hesi tests in the first year or second?
2. I was told that they find your clinical preceptor, is this true?
3. Are there a lot of papers to write and if so what format do they use?
4. To those that have completed, did they find your clinical sites and or preceptors. I was also told that if I had a place in mind I could use that if I gave them enough notice to get a contract with them.
TIA!
Cate
@china4mom I also filed an application today for October 29!?
We will be on the same cohort in case I continued with them. Were you able to lock-in the monthly payment plan?
I hope so . I am trying to get everything they will need so I can officially be enrolled by Aug.1st to lock in that plan. That was a big draw for me and the fact every time I sent an email with questions it was answered within 24 hours. I submitted the online app. I contacted the BSN Program I attended and paid for my transcript to be delivered electronically. They were supposed to check my standing with my state BON today.

2 Hesi first year and 1 the second I believe. But I doubled up for first year so my frame of reference might be off.
They do zilch to help you secure a clinical site. If you have a place in mind not on the list (get list early and reach out to any place near you as many of the places on the list do not actually accept students as they only did at one point bc they knew someone and were added to a general list and be expected to be told no a lot) but if you have a place willing to take you contact office of field experience early and get them added to approved clinical site list.
APA format nothing really over 10 pages most under 8.
Most prompts are fairly inclusive and give a great outline for the papers.
Good luck!
@china4mom I hope we'll both lock-in the monthly payment plan and have all our documents submitted and evaluated before August 1st.
@CANURSE99 Thank you for your feedback. It is really helpful for us newbies
So I am enrolled and they told me they no longer allow students to double up in the first year.
CANURSE999,
If you don’t mind could you please share what the 4 day on campus Lab was like? What do you do for 4 days?
Thank you,
Cate
Mine was two seperate sessions so not sure how they do it now.
It was physical exams (PAP/Rectal) it was suturing, physical assessment, etc.
Do you guys know of other accelerated FNP programs in the same price range as USU. Not being able to take two classes the first year is a bummer. I am looking to finish in less than 2 years. Please and thank you!
So I asked about the pass rates at USU and received this. Is this good enough? Does this program prepare students well for the boards. Would hate to spend so much on a program and not be able to pass the boards.
"We do not have pass rates online as they are constantly changing as students graduate and take the licensure exam. These are our current rates
89.7% of students graduate from the USU FNP program within 2-3 years
90.5% of students pass their licensure exam the first time
100% of students pass their licensure exam the second time".

I think this is all dependent on the student. Are they going to hold your hand? I would say no. Is instruction the best? I would also say no. Problem is that its online with very little teacher interaction, therefore, you are on your own to study and take the quizzes, etc. If you "cheat" your way and just look up answers online, then is it your fault or theirs.
You have to be self disciplined. There are a lot of needless/useless forum posting that is mandatory for your grade (I don't think it adds much value since most just post to meet the requirements). Its up to you to decide if its right for you.
