Unemployment insurance woes

I am so worried about my unemployment insurance claim! I was let go from the job because I was out on disability past eight weeks and they could no longer hold my job. I was told that my unemployment claim would not be denied if I applied, but now I am wondering if that is true. It has been three weeks and I just now got assigned a reviewer. The reviewer has received some "correspondance" from my employer and now needs to ask the employer some questions and ask me some questions to see if I am eligible. I received short term disability during the time I was out and was told that may make me ineligible if I am unable to work. I am able to work, but I have a lot of restrictions that make working in a nursing capacity (especially night shift in LTC) almost impossible. My OB wrote a letter to disability certifying me fully disabled so I could get the remainder of my benefit (up until August) but I was told that I am perfectly able to work a desk job or a job with minimal lifting and pushing. I guess I am just venting, I really need the unemployment to survive until I get my next job. Has anyone had any experiences with unemployment? :sniff:

In Florida, you must be available for work & able to accept employment, if offered, to qualify for unemployment. If you are unable to work, you must be disabled and unable to be employed for a minimum of 6 months before you qualify to apply for benefits, unless , of course, you have a private policy through AFLAC or some similar company. Workman's comp is an entirely different situation & I'm not sure what those requirements are.

Hopefully, there are more options where you live. I can certaimly understand your predicament!
