Undergraduate nursing student will challenge LVN

Specializes in duties in school.

Hi everyone...I just want to ask...I'm an undergraduate nursing student in the Philippines. I was not able to finish my course because I had to migrate to the US. I already have my green card. I'm thinking of challenging the LVN exam. Can I do that even if I I'm not yet finished with my nursing course in the Philippines? I'm supposed to have one more year to go before I could finish my course. My first option is to take the LVN exam and if I won't be allowed, I have no choice but to finish my nursing course in the Philippines because it's faster. If I study in the US i might start all over again...

any suggestions? thanks! :wink2:

There is no such thing as challenging the PN exam, you need to have met the requirements for licensure and completed the required clinicals and lecture time in an approved school of nursing.

You can apply for licensure and see what they say about what you have completed in your program, there is no way to apply for the exam directly. You are going to need to have approval from the Bureau first.

(CA no longer has a Board for the LVNs, it is now a Bureau that is under the Dept of Consumer Affairs.)

Best of luck to you.

i suggest you just finish your course here.

Unfortunately, one cannot just come here and complete the last year of their program. There is not one school here that will accept someone and not have them repeat most of their program.

The only way to get it done in a timely fashion is to return to the Philippines and complete it.
