Hi! I'm a recent upcoming BSN nurse graduate in December 2020. I just got offered a position at UNC medical center Neuro ICU nurse residency program. I know no one from the area, or even been to North Carolina. I'm originally from Oregon and go to school in Washington. I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice? Or I should even consider the position?
And even if people are also in the program, if you are looking for roommates? Honestly I'm just so indecisive on what to do, but I am so excited to get accepted to an ICU nurse residency.
If you are looking for a roommate, please message me! I'm a young female nurse, likes going out, going on hikes, clean, social and would love to meet new people and make friends.
Hope to hear from other nurse graduates that got accepted to the program as well!!

Hi! I am in the same boat. I recently accepted a nurse residency position at UNC for the Burn ICU. I am from CA and will be moving to NC in January so I can settle in before my February start date. I also know no one and have never been in the area. I don't know if you have looked into apartments in the area. I managed to secure a 1 bed/1 bath apartment for a decent price that is a few miles from the hospital and about a mile from one of the Park & Ride lots since parking can be a nightmare.

What apartment complexes have you looked into? I was also looking at apartments in Durham, but the drive seems too much.
My recruiter sent me a list of apartment complexes in the area so I just worked off of that. I looked at the specific listings on apartments.com to see the price, floor plans, amenities, etc. and narrowed it down based on my needs.

Hey there! I applied for the Pediatrics nurse residency, how long was the process to hear back and get an interview?
Hi! I got a phone call from a recruiter about a week or two after submitting my application. The recruiter did a brief phone interview with me where we mostly talked about my resume and the specifics of the residency program. She then scheduled a phone interview with the nurse manager for the unit for the following week. I interviewed in the morning and was offered the position later that day by the recruiter. Hopefully that helps! Good luck!

Thank you so much! I’ll be on the look out for a phone call then ☺️

Hi! On 2/11 I applied to the UNC nurse residency for the Summer 2021 start date! I applied to newborn critical care as well as the women’s health units on floor 5&6. Does anyone have any experience interviewing with them/know anyone who does? I’m assuming it will be competitive and I haven’t gotten a phone call yet, but one of my applications is now “under consideration” instead of just “received” so I’m hopeful! Any info would be so helpful, thanks sm!
