Any applicants for the accelerated BSN at UMass that starts Jan. 2009? Just wanted to get an idea of how many apply there each year and the likelihood of getting in!? Or where else are you applying?

It's going to be hard to wait until Oct.! SO......

What are you doing in the meantime? I am thinking about taking other pre req classes for other schools, but hate spending the money if I'm not even going to that school. It's the main frustration I have with nursing schools with such different requirements for the same program!

Any thoughts??

Hi guys I applied to the Umass Accelerated program as well and am waiting to hear from them! I also got accepted into MCPHS and am not sure which program I would rather be in. MCPHS is much more expensive but i live right down the street from the school so I just can't figure it out. Where are you guys looking to live in Amherst? Do you know what the rent rates are?

I am from the Amherst area and the rent rates are very high for our area (if your from the Boston area you might not think so) I would say around $1000 a month plus utilities for a small nice place in Amherst or Northampton. There are tons of small towns near Amherst (within 15-20 minutes) that you could rent a similar or better place for closer to $600 or less depending on the town. There are a ton of college "kids" in the area so if you want to be able to walk to school you are going to pay.

I emailed the school today and they told me they will be sending out letters late this week and I should be getting a letter by Oct. 15th! I'm so nervous!!

Hey, anyone heard more details about getting loans for school? (if we get in!) I am starting to get pretty worried about that as well. I don't think I'll be able to take much out in terms of stafford loans so would have to go the private route... I have good credit but who knows these days! any actual "drying up" of educational loans?

no mail... so I called and they said that the decisions had just been made and they would be mailing the letters in the next few days!!

the waiting is hard!

Thanks for the update. I can now remove myself from my front porch where I stalk the mail man every morning!!

I'm a little frustrated they aren't here, but at least it will be a complete surprise whenever they DO come!

so, post-nursing school, what sort of nursing do you all think you want to do? are you interested in continuing on to become a NP?
