UK to USA

Published

Hi All,

I am a UK adult trained nurse with 4 years experience. I am hoping to work in USA as a nurse. I am curious if anyone has successfully gone through the cgfns process and what the experience was like? Particularly if you were granted ATT or if you fell short in clinical/ theory hours? If so, how did you deal with this? Any suggestions or advice welcomed!

Thank you.

Hello, there. I just received an update on my CES report, stating that it has been issued for NYBON and that all criteria are highlighted as "Meets all requirements". What exactly does this mean. Please tell me. Thanks.

Hi there,

This means that your CGFNS evaluation was successful and your UK nursing degree has met the US requirements for a Batchelors degree in Nursing in NY. It will now be sent to NYBON who will contact you re: NCLEX.

Congratulations on your successful transcript evaluation.

Hey @Eviecam67 Thank you. But do you know how long it will take for the New York Board of Nursing to contact me with all of the evaluation results and other information?. Do you think I should contact cgfns or the New York Education Centre to find out what is going on with my application?.

Hi there,

I'm not 100% sure but I think CGFNS sent my results directly to MD BON.

In your case, NY BON/New York State Education Department should assess your foreign nursing education/CGFNS report and determine if you are eligible to sit for the NY NCLEX exam.

If I were you, I would email CGFNS and ask if your report has gone to the relevant body OR do you have to send it yourself. Additionally ask what next steps you need to take.

I have found a link which might prove helpful for you. Hope it helps:

@hjellybean Hiya a fellow uk nurse making the application. in regards to the CGFNS process, did your university specifically detail your placements? As you stated previously our degrees lack of maternity/child modules, did they receive your PAD or request a letter from your university? Thank you x

@mac555 After applying for CGFNS, you will receive two forms to complete: one for the university and one for the NMC. NMC does not accept external documents, so you must request that your PIN details be sent to the US nursing board for the state you are applying for. If you have a copy of your PAD, send a detailed email to your university, even if it was a spoke placement in child's an and e or maternity. The university will then handwrite the form and post it to the US Board of Nursing.

Hey @Eviecam67 I just received an email from NYBON stating that my application to sit for the NCLEX has been approved, so all I need to do now is create an account in Pearson. There is no time frame, right?
