How about we move this thread to the Canadian forum where it will attract the right attention?
Ponoka is a small town in a very rural area about an hour and a bit south of Edmonton. The main employer is the psychiatric hospital. The community is pretty welcoming and there are many things to do despite the small-townishness. You'll probably have to arrange for private child care, because I don't think you'll find a day care that caters to shift-workers. Even in the big city we don't have them and there isn't a day care at the University Hospital although the demand would be huge. One alternative is to find live-in help, which might be dificult too due to the economy. Let's throw it out there and see what comes back.
