UIC's GEP Fall 2014

Published

Just looking to see if anyone else out there has applied to UIC's GEP for Fall 2014. I just finished my application.

I have an undergraduate degree (1994) from Iowa State in Art & Design and a Master's degree (1996) from UIC in Art Therapy. Hopefully my alumni status will increase my chances.

I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and, if accepted, will commute.

How about you?

Can any of the current GEP students talk about assistantships? How do you guys make a living?

I was accepted to UIC and plan to attend but have to say the communication about the program and curriculum has been very poor. Also I can't seem to get an email back from tuition office or veteran office. It does seem that UIC's cost is pretty damn high for out of state students and also a little bit longer than some other entry CNL programs. Anyways, I hope they make a Facebook page or something for us soon so we can all communicate better! Here is the *proposed* curriculum that I had to nearly beg for to get...:

wow you are awesome Kapteezy21!!!!!! I was so surprise this wasn't in our acceptance packet. wow its 2 semesters more than the others schools I'm deciding on... but less units per semester. over all only 8 units more, but 2 semesters longer. I wonder if it would be less "intense" but this program is going to be so expensive for out of staters like me!

you're welcome DOKHTARSHIRAZI! I basically had to nag and beg for it...weird. Yea Elmhurst for example is only 5 semesters like you said but I still think I will take UIC even though it is insanely expensive. Where are you coming from, California? I am. I ask because your username is Farsi and I have some friends with the last name Shirazi and of course dokhtar means girl/misses etc. :) if anyone else wants to add each other on Facebook let us know, Navy_PO2 and I already have done so to talk more quickly

Yep! from California and Yep Iranian :) I'm scared on making a decision about schools! how do you knowwww UIC is for you? I'll find you on facebook :)

I'm from California too! But do you guys know around exactly how much the total cost would be for out of staters like myself?

Hello Everyone!

It looks everyone here is from California! lol That's nice! Hope all you guys got your admission packet! Although, I have not received mine and it's taking forever, I was told to just wait for it. I'm originally from the Philippines moved here in Illinois when I was 10 y/o. I'm active duty in US Navy and working as a training instructor here in Great Lakes. I'm getting ready to get out AD and moving to reserve to attend grad-school. So far, that's the plan and I can't wait to start!!! Like Kapteezy21 said we have been talking a lot on FB.

If you plan on living on-campus at SSR, I'll be going on a tour this week to get some information about the building. I'll let you all know how it went and update you with anything.

I think of out of state it is a bit over $100,000 for the program.

ooo I want to visit campus as well. Is your tour from the nursing school? Are there specific dates for tour?
