Hi everyone!
I just found out friday that I was accepted to the Midwifery program at UIC for Fall 2011! Anybody else out there? I'm so excited!

I was also accepted into the program for Fall 2011. I am a current BSN student there now. Where are you from and will you be going full or part time?
Hi ehealy3,
I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2009. I moved to Chicago after graduating and have worked here (MICU/CCU) for the last 2 years. My experience is pretty unrelated to Midwifery but I have a gut feeling about this so I am going with it!
So far, I am planning on attending part time as I don't know if I can afford to go full time. I'm planning on the 3 year plan but I really just need to sit down with the advisor and see how I can work it out!
How about you? Are you planning on going part time or full time? Do you like UIC?

Congrats!!!! I have applied to the adult/gerontological NP program for fall 2011. When were your interviews? Also do you know how many individuals they were selecting out of each subgroup for the NP programs?
Geriatricnursing,
I interviewed Feb 23 with somebody from the CMN program. I unfortunately don't know how many individuals were they selected out of each subgroup. Midwifery stuff seemed very separate from the NP program. We didn't discuss anything but the Midwifery program. Sorry I can't be of more help! I hope you hear soon!! Good luck!!

ehealy3,
Sorry to get a bit off topic (congratulations to you all!), but you mentioned you are currently a BSN student at UIC and are already accepted into a fall master's program. I just received my Fall 2011 UIC BSN acceptance this week, and while I don't want to get ahead of myself, I am pretty sure I want to continue for a NP speciality after the BSN.
I'm assuming that they allow you apply before you graduate, since it seems that is what you have done. Can you tell me if that is something that is common (do they encourage those who are interested in continuing their education to do so), or did you have to get any special permission? I was assuming I would have to graduate, look for a job, and wait for the next application cycle to come around. While I do intend to do grad school part time (and work), I am kind of excited to hear that it might be possible to not have to wait a year (and get out of school mode).
