Thinking about applying to UIC's GEP program. Anybody here applied and was accepted? What were your stats?
My stats: 3.2 Overall GPA/3.5 Sci BA in Sociology. Office Manager in home health care, tech in a medical equipment co, medical assistant (no cert) in dr's office and later office manager there. Volunteering in Nursing Home around 120 hours...
From what I can tell on their website, after completing the NCLEX, you immediately start the master portion of the program. Is this correct?
Does anyone know when we should hear back on the final decisions? When I asked it sounded like they had to submit their choices to the admissions committee on 4/26 and we could expect a week or so for the turn around.
Torzorz, PNP told me the same thing. But because the coordinators don't make the ultimate decisions she said that she can't give an exact timeframe. Website says early May. Hopefully only a few more weeks at the most!
Greetings everyone! So there is really not much to write about our interviews today. We met up as a group at 10am and spoke with Professors about the ins and outs of the program. This lasted roughly 45 minutes. We then split off into one on one sessions with different professors, which took roughly 30-45 minutes depending on how many questions you had for them. After that we were released to go home. The entire process took less than 2 hours. I would say that it is rather laid back and conversational, but def be ready for prodding questions. Everyone I met was very nice and friendly, interviewees as well as professors. Overall a great experience and program. Fingers crossed I made a good and lasting impression :) Very confident in my choice of profession/specialty after this. Hope this puts some nerves at ease.

I was told today that we will be informed "unofficially" at the end of this month based on the nursing committee decisions. A few weeks later it becomes official with UIC itself.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sure you did great :) Do you just meet with one professor or with a few? Glad to know it's one-on-one and not group interviews! Also did it seem like they had read your essays beforehand, or did you need to reiterate all of that? I read on previous year's forums that the applicants felt like the interviewer didn't know anything about them beforehand.

We met with one professor each. My interviewer said she had read over my personal statement, but honestly I felt like I had to restate all of it anyway. She had a folder with all my stats, statement and I think resume.
