Hello readers. Just curious if there is anyone out there whom is or has officially applied for the 2021 January intake for the BSN program @ UFV and what your experience has been thus far?
Me, I am working hard at my upgrades. I never thought I would be in my mid 30s and going back to Bio 12 and Chem 11 but here I am. I am working feverishly to get my classes done before Aug 15 as that is the last day your transcript has to be updated to meet the prerequisite requirements. I did and still do find this whole process overwhelming. When I met with the advisor at UFV she told me: English 12, Bio 12, Chem 11, and Math 11, come in with straight A's. I initially kind of thought, really??? Maybe I still do. I had a B+ in English 12. She recommended to pull that up to an A. So I am doing Chem 083 through UFV and Bio(now called Anatomy and Physiology) through online school district. I would be curious to hear if anyone else out there is considering or has applied and how your venture has been so far.
Take care!
Hi everyone!
I'm also applying for the Jan 2021 intake to UFV's BSN program. I previously submitted an application for the Sept 2020 intake, but because I wasn't able to complete my pre-reqs in time, it was deemed incomplete.
As far as grades go, I have A's in Chemistry 11 and Biology 12, and am close to completing Math 11 and English 12. I hope to have the last two courses completed by the next 2 weeks or so (with As). In regards to healthcare experience, I had been volunteering at a long term care facility for more than 5 years (1200 hours) until I was hired to work as a recreation aide at the very same facility last Summer. Prior to that, I worked as a recreation aide at another long-term care/Independent Living facility for around 1.5 years. I also have a year's worth of volunteer experience at a rehab unit, where I shadowed/assisted an OT with various group exercises for patients undergoing high intensity rehab.
I am very excited yet also quite nervous about this entire process. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope that we can use this forum to help one another throughout the application process and onwards!

So how close were you to completing your pre-reqs before the cut off? What was the cutoff time for the September intake?

Well if you have any tips or know any tutors for FOM11 that would be awesome!

I wasn't close at all. I was naive to think that I would be able to cram all 4 courses in 2 months and finish by the deadline, but my judgement was way off, haha. The application deadline for the September intake was January 31st.

Where are you doing your Math from?
Hi Everyone :). I am another fellow applicant for the Winter 2021 Intake. I have applied already, pending completion of pre-req's. Right now I am currently upgrading my Chem and English at UFV. My Math and Biology (self-paced), I am currently upgrading it through another facility. I am trying my hardest to get all A's in the pre-req's. Experience wise, I have been a Medical Clerk both in the private and public sector for a total of 5 years. I have various volunteer experience at a Hospice also but I am planing just to only use my experience as a Medical Clerk for my application. I am very excited to be going down this path and I am thrilled to have found this site.
I wish you all the best with finishing your pre-req's :):).
hello everyone,
I enjoyed reading your conversations. and realize to get into nursing is highly competitive. I am taking all four upgrading courses this semester. I am done with maths with A+. but I am struggling with English. I am trying best to be in A line, but it is looking hard.
all the best to all of you.

Hi Rupali,
Welcome to the forum! Please feel free to ask any questions regarding the application process to UFV's BSN program/other related questions. We are all here to help/support one another!
Yes, nursing is highly competitive, but I'm sure you can do it! You already have an A+ in Math, which is great. I'm sure you'll do great in English, too. Where are you taking your courses? Also, if you feel comfortable sharing, what is your educational background/health care experience?
I wish you the best of luck in completing the pre-reqs and throughout the rest of the application process!

Hi there,
Welcome! It's nice to see so many prospective UFV BSN applicants on this group. You seem to have great experience, which will hopefully help with your application. I wish you all the best with completing your pre-reqs, too. Feel free to ask any questions along the way!
thank you for a warm welcome on this thread. I have few hours volunteer experience in a senior care facility and working experience at front desk in a clinic. I am trying to find volunteer opportunity in a health care facility. but because of this pandemic situation, it seems impossible. I am taking my courses at UFV. BTW, if anybody know volunteer opportunity anywhere in Abbotsford, please let me know. it would be a great help.

I think you have to be doing the class through UFV for the tutoring?
My FOM11 is from Abby Virtual.
I did get the Chem textbook. It is not the regular hard cover book. It is sheets that are holepunched and go into your binder.
