UF's Nursing Resource Center

Published

Does anyone know anything about this? I just got into their ABSN program, and it looks like we are scheduled to be at the Nursing Resource Center for 2 hours per day, 3X per week. I'm assuming it's to learn skills and so forth, but 6 hours per week seems like a lot. If I'm understanding this correctly, that means I'll be in school from around 8AM to 3:30PM four days per week!

Are you actually hands-on for that long? Do you take turns with other students so you can get some reading in while you are waiting for your turn?

The program is only 13 months long, so it is feasible that this is the case.... and I knew I was going to get my butt kicked while I was in it....but this is starting to scare me!!!

Can anyone tell me anything??? The school's advisor just started 2 weeks ago, so I'd rather start by asking someone who's gone through it.

Thanks so much!!!

I'm a little behind on everything since I was on the waitlist, but I've been corresponding with someone who's already in UF's program and I believe she said for the first summer semester you're in class 6-8 hours a day Mon-Thurs. Did you get an email about this or is that just what you gathered after registering?

The schedule is on their website (I haven't registered yet). Here is a link:

http://con.ufl.edu/current_students/advisement_schedules.asp

You'll have to click on "first semester" to open the document.

If you get a chance, would you please ask that person how the subsequent semesters are?

And have you decided on UF or FAU?

I'm going to UF - Gainesville campus :) Here is what she said about the other 2 semesters:

2nd semester: class 2 days a week for about 6-8 hrs/day and clinical 2 days a week for 8 hrs/day

Third semester: class 2 days a week and clinical 2 days a week. First 8 weeks you will have community and peds clinical, peds one clinical day and Community the other. The second 8 weeks you will have psych and OB.

Hope that helps!

I may end up applying to the ABSN.. what did you get on the GRE and what is your gpa? Thank you!! this may be a last resort for me if I don't get into the BSN, and don't hear back from fgcu for spring semester!
