UCLA Summer Externship 2017

Hi,

I applied to the UCLA Summer Externship in December and wanted to know who else applied? Also, does anyone know what the next steps are or when we will start hearing back?

Any updates?

I was notified by official email on April 13, 2017 after I applied in January of 2016. After I accepted the position by phone (after I had to call Sheri myself), the application status in my UCLA health portal changed to "Position extended/offered".

If anyone has any questions in the future of what my application process looked like, how I did what, and what the externship looks like (I'll begin it in June 5th-July 15th summer 2017) I would be more than happy to share any information (within respectable limits).

No I do not as of now! I just filled out a form to communicate my preferences but nothing has been set in stone yet, as far as I understand.

Do you know what unit you'll be at?

No I have not heard back yet....I am starting to just assume I was not selected.

I just called the office and the woman stated that they are still in the process of selecting the applicants, and it is unknown when we will officially find out since it depends on how many applicants they received.

That's frustrating considering that the application itself closed three months ago. Well, the best of luck to those who haven't heard back!

Hi! I was just wondering what you did during this process to be notified so early? I know people have been calling and they keep saying they do not know when people will be notified, so how were you able to be accepted so early? Did you do anything special or have any specific experience? Thank you!

No, I was persistent and composed my emails in a way that exuded politeness as well as my overwhelming desire fro the position. I worked hard on my cover letter and resume and had a lot of medical professionals check it. I'm not sure about anything special, sorry I wish I had more insight as to how they pick. They really weren't helpful in alerting who was picked, I was honestly really persistent in calling her and asking fro when they would let everyone know.
