UCCS/ CSU Pueblo Accelerated BSN Application

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm needing help with CSU Pueblo's requirements- their website isn't very helpful. I'm curious that if you start in May, can you still take one or two classes in the spring (Jan-May)? It says something along the lines of 50% of prerequisites must be completed by application date (October 1). Also, what is their application process like-i.e. an interview or an essay requirement? Do you need a full year of chemistry or just one semester? What about their foreign language course- if you took 5 years in middle/high school of Spanish, will they honor that? I'm also curious when they say statistics from a liberal arts program does not count, but another math class can be substituted. I am from Missouri and our programs all require college algebra as well as any statistics (I of course took psychology stats for my major) so I have taken college algebra. Will this count?

My other questions lead to UCCS. What holds more weight- GPA, HESI scores, interview or essay? This is my first choice program, because it is the closest to me among other reasons. I've already been in contact with the nursing advisor, and plan on scheduling a meeting further in the summer to get tips to boost my application. My cumulative GPA from my BS in Psychology (biomedical sciences minor) is 3.22. I am currently taking A&P 2, and in the fall I'll be taking anthropology and chemistry 2, boosting my prereq GPA in the process. Any help from current students in either program would be greatly appreciated!
