UC FNP vs Georgtown FNP vs George Washington

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I am trying to find out more information on past/present/future students attending theses FNP programs.

I have found several threads and in talking to my counselors this is my break down. I am military which makes a difference with NON-LOI / LOI.

I see that all programs are fast paced and rigorous which I believe is expected. I don't have a lot of information on UC and GW would love if anyone has information to share.

I am trying to find out more information about how the classes are structured and on-campus visits.

I have found that UC is difficult to communicate with.

Thank you

wow nice comparison list! I"m actually looking at Georgetown, when you say UC do you mean University of Cincinnati? I'm surprised at the "No Papers" for GU, how did you find that information out? I would think there would be paper writing for all MSN courses. I have also looked at Maryville and South (no campus visits, and south offers once class at a time but you are considered a full time student to the VA)

Yes, University of Cincinnati. I gathered my information through the schools and the discussion threads from people who actually attended.

Well my application for Georgetown is nearly complete, just need to do my video essay and personal goal statement. I'm in the process of gathering all I need for UC, and I also applied to Maryville University and South University. I personally would prefer to do GU's 18 month full time program as I'll have the GI bill for 16mo plus student loans and could afford to leave my job for that time in school (or work per diem somewhere), UC and Maryville I believe I could continue my full time job and do 2 classes at a time, and since South is only one class at a time I could work full time no problems. I have my heart set on GU though =)

I currently attend georgetown and there are definitely papers. I'd say average of 4-5/ semester. Plus two research classes with a 50 pg paper

sugarsweet- do you attend full time or part time? WOW that's a lot of writing, but I figured as much! =) Is the 50 page paper a group project or all on your own? I can do a 10-15 page with no problems but shewwwwwww a 50 page?! Without repeating myself a ton? LOL...I am REALLY hoping and praying I get accepted for Summer 2014 timeframe for full time. I have the time I can take off of work and financially be stable (should I say this in my essay video?) and 16 mo of the GI bill to use at 100%, plus they are a yellow ribbon school so that will decreas the tutition cost for me using the GI bill! =) I ordered transcripts, just need to do the video essay and my packet will be complete to submit!!!

Good luck with your application! I am full time. I started off working part time and switched to prn only about one day a week. It should definitely be manageable if you don't need to work. The majority of the papers are by yourself and about 10-12 pg limit. For the two research classes, the first class has mostly group projects where you were paired up with another student. The second research project with the 50 page paper you do yourself. However you are basically working on the paper about 3/4 of the semester. My teacher even spent most of class time just discussing how we were progressing with our papers and answering questions. You have to review about 15 research articles so it's not hard to get to about 40-50 pages lol ?

Application is Pending Review =) UGGGHHH hate waiting! lol

Georgetown looks great but TOOO expensive for me :(

I can completely undersand that SlyFoxRN! The ONLY reason I'm even attempting GU is because I have 100% GI bill benefits for 16mo, so if accepted I'd do the full time program IF their financial aid office says that the GI bill will cover 80-100% of the costs during those 16mo and take out one student loan for the year as well. then i'm only really financing 20K for my program which is less than any other one I apply to. Heres to hoping I get in, but I know it's so competitive I"m not sure my 3.7 is enough, and i'm really not sure if they will even accept my micro and a&P from Excelsior since I didn't have "lab" credits.
