Hi,

I am planning to apply to the UC Davis nurse residency program this coming November. Just getting prepared for the application period and did not see a forum for this coming period.

If you have any helpful hints or questions, let's answer them here!! Application open from November 1st - November 8th. Start dates March 14th - May 9th.

Was there anywhere on the application that allowed you to put when you are expected to graduate?

Did anyone submit a cover letter in the cover letter section or did you only add it to the resume file?

Hi, did anyone have trouble with the “Issue Date” when uploading your certifications? I uploaded mine and it would give me today’s date. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s a glitch.

Hey, yeah I had the same thing happen to me - pretty sure it's a glitch!

Does anyone know when we're supposed to hear back?

Is anyone applying from out of state? I'm from California but went to an out of state nursing school because it was cheaper. I'm graduating in December and will be taking the NCLEX for california. I'm worried about the timeline since I heard it can take a long time to get licensed. This residency doesn't start until March-May but I'm worried if I would have my license by then. Anyone with any thoughts/knowledge/advice? Thanks!

I applied from out of state, and I had the exact same thought. I do not believe there is anything that we can do except hope that we can start in May and it is enough time. Not sure if anyone else has any other information. Sorry I know that was not helpful, but you are not alone! ?

I didn't apply to UC specifically- but am moving from out of state to Cali and will be taking my NCLEX there. I graduate this December.

I called the BRN and I just wanted to advise that its a good idea to work on your BRN application a couple of weeks (or so) before graduation: complete it, submit passport photo and pay the fee. You can submit the transcripts and fingerprints (best done in Cali) when you graduate.

Paying the fee gives your application a spot in the "queue". They processing order is based on payment date.  You don't want to apply too much in advance because the application will have deficiencies and that can put you back 8 weeks or so.

I heard that the passport photo is no longer a requirement.

Ohh that's good to know! I've emailed them but they never responded and the few times I called the line was busy. I submitted my application about 2 weeks ago, but I didn't pay the fee yet (so I guess I'm not in the queue which is good). Do you think now would be a good time to submit if I'm graduating mid-December?

To be honest I'm not sure! I don't really know how fast they are processing. I submitted mine 3 weeks ago and its still pending.

Interesting! I guess its a (very) recent change?

I checked on my application today, and it now says "Routed for Further Consideration" !!

Before it changed to routed for further consideration, what did it say? Did it say applied/submitted when you first applied or did it say under review the moment you applied?
