Ualr nursing program applicant 2017

U.S.A. Arkansas

Hi, I just wanted to start a conversation for the 2017 nursing applicants at Ualr. It's a long wait until April. We can keep each other updated during the wait.

Yeah I called today around 4:40 and no answer so I'm going to try again in the morning.

Hello , I'm a traditional track applicant for 2017. I'm finishing up my prerequisites now praying and hoping everything fall

in my favor I have a 3.2 GPA so hopefully that enough to get me in the program good luck to everyone.

Did you ever find out if they are going to send an email to let you know if it's complete? So, we find out at the end of this month don't we?

I hand delivered my paperwork as well the first week they started accepting applications and I haven't gotten a email. I called and was told they send emails out if you are missing something like with the paperwork. She said if you don't recieve a email then everything is good. Also she said they start sending acceptance emails the end of this month going into the beginning of April. This is going to be one long stressful month. Good luck to everyone

Hi everyone! Applied for the Accelerated program, completed all pre-req's except APII (which I'm taking now) and currently have a 3.78 GPA. I've talked to many current and former students and the way I understand it is that they use a matrix that gives you points for pre-req's completed and points for the grades in only those classes. Then they combine those points and that's your "score" for determining acceptance. So the more pre-req classes you have complete and the higher your GPA for pre-req classes, the more likely you are to get in. When I asked some of the program folks about my chances, they said, "Oh yeah, you'll be good for sure."

If, at the time you applied, you have all or almost all your classes complete and your GPA is a 3.25ish or higher, I would think you are money.

I currently work in the ICU and I plan to work there after I pass the NCLEX.

Good luck everyone!

Are you a nurse now? ICUboyrn

miahj90, nope.... but I will be after December 2018! ;)

I've been a patient care tech for the last 18 months and plan to work thru nursing school. The ICU experience has opened my eyes to a lot regarding nursing. I'm excited to get this started and over with!

Do y'all know if they send acceptance letter emails too?

My understanding is that it's a letter, not email. And I believe they start mailing them out the end of this month.

Hello. Yes they do send out acceptance letters via email. At least they did last year. I was accepted last year but could not attend because my husband received deployment orders which changed our move to Arkansas. But I received my acceptance letter via email on April 5, 2016.

Thanks for clarifying, Shannon. That's good to know!

Icuboyrn have you heard anything about the lpn to rn program? Mostly everyone I speak with is either applying or went through the traditional or accelerated program. I have everything done except History, but I'm currently taking that. My GPA without my history class is a 3.3. From what others have told you do you think I'll have a chance? I'm super nervous
