I'm considering applying for the FNP program at UAB, which would be a distance program for me. I have only 1 year experience with adults several years ago followed by 16 years as a NICU nurse. Would a distance program, like UAB, be sufficient for learning so much new material considering I haven't cared for adults in so long or should I seek out a local university with a classroom setting? I'd love to hear from anyone who may have gone the online/distance route, especially through UAB. How prepared were you to sit for boards and then to practice in the "real world"?
