Hi I live in Georgia. I am applying to the Amnp at Uab for Jan 2015. Does anyone know how to go about receiving sufficient grad funds as an out of state student? I would love to hear from someone who is applying to the program as an out of state student or simply have detailed suggestions. How can i get enough funds to pay tuition and living expenses. Thanks for your time.

Hey. I'm in the current cohort. If you live in Georgia you should be able to get in-state tuition through SBEC because Georgia doesn't offer the same program in the state (if you've lived in GA for at least a year). When you find out if you've gotten accepted you can start the paperwork for that. I know there are some current cohort members that would be willing to help you find the application materials. Once you get that straightened out, I can help you with the loan stuff. I'm out of state and had to take out unsubsidized and GradPlus loans and no one really guided us through that application process, so after three semesters I've got it down haha. Good luck!

Hi Nicole614. Thank you so much for your support! Unfortunately I wont be attending UAB. They said all I needed was a Nutrition Course to satisfy the prerequisite courses and the one that my current school offers.... was not equivalent. Consequently, I dropped the course considering that it was not required for the Nursing Program in Ga. A month later, UAB contacted me explaining that although the Nutrition course is not equivalent, it was sufficient for the program. At that time it was too late for me to pick the course back up. So due to the lack of organization and all the other hassles they put me through, I decided to stay in Georgia and attend a Nursing School here. I just got my acceptance letter last week. I am super excited and eager to get started in January! I could elaborate on the other hassles UAB put me through, but in the end I believe it all worked out for my good. Best Wishes in the Nursing Program!!!!
