hi all,
I got a job offer med/surg Roosevelt hospital (days) as a new grad -I like the hospital, the unit looked nice, etc etc... Also have a preliminary job offer from a pediatric center (LTC, not hospital) which I visited and liked and have the second part of the interview with nurse managers/specific units coming up....
I know doing med surg can prepare me for/open up more opportunities but I really enjoy working with children-Would a peds hospital look favorably upon work at a peds centerand hire me down the line?
Or am I limiting myself prematurely by not starting with med/surg.
The pay is comparable for both-
Thanks! All advice welcome/needed!!
I have to decide this week

Congratulations! That's great!
I guess I would wait to make any decision until you have that second interview. I would want something solid in my hand before I turn down a sure thing.
Once you get that firm offer, sit down and think about the two choices along with the pros and cons. Imagine you are having a particularly tough shift, the kind that might want you running to the hills (or at least the closet), and think which one would you want to return to the next day. Money doesn't mean squat if you don't enjoy going to work at least a little bit.
