TWO JOB OFFERS in San Antonio: Methodist or Southwest

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

First and foremost I'm blessed that I even have an option. I graduated with my RN-ADN in July and started working home health. I live in San Antonio & I applied for the Methodist residency. The meet and greet was beyond crazy that I didn't think I would get hired. So, after that I applied at Southwest General (med surg) thinking Methodist would not call me. SWG called me for an interview and hired me on the spot and in the same evening got a call back from Methodist offering me residency for tele. My question: any advice is to which offer to take??? I'm so confused and want to make sure I make the right decision and I have prayed on it but just curious as to what my allnurses friends would say.

I am a new grad also. I would get more information concerning each. for youself. The environment, the goals, the schedule, the statistics for the hospital - on the floor how long do people stay, are the employees happy, what are the patient nurse ratios, are there any bad write-ups/good write-ups for each hospital/floor.

Can you give me some pointers on how you got two offers?

I've never heard of Southwest General Hospital but I know Methodist is a big hospital & I've heard good things about it.

I second what the previous poster said. It's up to you. What are your long term goals? Where do you see yourself in 5, 10+ years? Which position do you think will get you to your end goal? Good luck & congratulations! :)

So I'm kinda late to this topic, but was wondering what decision you ended up making SA Girl? I actually worked at Southwest General for awhile but not on the Med/Surg floor.

Hope things are going well
