I was curious if anyone works, or has worked, two CNA jobs and what their experience was/is, how they balanced everything, etc.
Currently, I'm working two jobs -- I work as a CNA in a group home, and I also work at McDonald's. However, lately I've been thinking more and more about giving my notice to McDonald's and looking for another job in the CNA field, possibly in a nursing home, for several reasons. I need the money and experience, and I really like working as a CNA and feel it's my calling. The management treats me well and values me at McDonald's which is why I've stuck around there for so long, but fact of the matter is McDonald's doesn't pay much of anything and I'd make a lot more money working 2 CNA jobs, than a CNA job and McDonald's.
I'm just trying to figure out the best way to balance everything out if I did get another CNA job. Like I said, I'd have to give notice to McDonald's because 3 jobs is way too much. I tried that once, never again. And also, figuring out my schedule... I work 3 nights a week at the group home, so I figure that's 4 evenings/nights I could work at a nursing home. Seems like a part-time or PRN position would be optimal in that case.

Hey Turtle Cat its been awhile since Ive seen you. :)
Are your hours fixed at the home you work at or do you get a lot of calls to take extra shifts. I ask only because if you work at a nursing home at the same time and you get a call to take an extra shift at the Home or at the Nursing Home and you can not ever take it because you are working at the other place they might see you as someone that is not flexable for them. I hope I am making sence here.
I feel if you wanted another CNA job how about looking into Home Care. It always seems that they are more flexable in their scheduling. Nursing Homes seem to want your heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears and they don't care sometimes what other things you might be having in your life. i' just hate to see you get too overwelmed with working. You need to take time off for yourself too, and by working two highly demanding jobs I feel you might take on more then you can handle.
I've always loved you passion that you have for being a CNA and I always seem to be routing for you especially when you were having such a hard time a few months back. Hopeing for the best for you keep us informed as to what you decide.
