tutoring is worth it

Published

Lately I've been feeling so overwhelmed trying to balance my son and my first semester as a mom. I leave in the morning for classes and come home around 4 pm. I have to do math, give him quality time, and clean.

I felt worse when I gave up a chunk of my monday mornings for tutoring. I had to sacrifice time for sleep (which is rare :dead:). But when I took my test and it clicked like a light bulb I was so thankful I had made the choice to go.

I don't know my grade yet but I'm actually anxious to find out. I was dreading this test.

Nice! I agree with you! I'm giving up my morning off for tutoring after working the night before. But I'm feeling really good about this semester.

Update about the test when you can!

I'm glad your doing well. Which subject do you see a tutor for? Ill update. I'm taking regular college algebra and a credit of learning support for the college algebra. We cover two different subjects a week and its hard. I felt like I wasn't getting it because by time I'd do all my homework we were on to something else.

I felt like I was going to stay just above water all semester. So when I took my test and it "clicked" it felt good. It felt motivating.

College algebra does go fast! I like math..if you ever need help come to the facebook group "homework helper/solver" (it's for high school but there are really smart people there in math and science subjects who helped me). I love that feeling!

I'm seeing my teacher for all my nursing classes actually haha! I feel like learning in class goes easy but then I have trouble studying for the exams because there is so much info and we're expected to go into greater detail of that info for the quizzes/exams. I haven't had the session yet but I think it's going to help me a lot to figure out how and what to study. My method that worked in the science and assessment classes (to read the chapter and take notes from the ch's and lectures) isn't working as good in medsurg and pathophysiology, so I'm going to get ideas.

When do you start the nursing classes?

Try explaining what you've learned to other people. If you can do that and answer their questions then you got it.

I will probably apply to Chamberlain next year. I have 12 classes to take before I transfer. Because of my learning support math I have a class that doesn't really count towards school credit. Only 3 of my classes this semester count towards the transfer credits I need

Did you take statistics? I need that next semester its available. I've read its not hard just different

I made a 72. I was very disappointed because I felt like I had nailed it. When I looked it waa simple mistakes

She gave out extra credit so I'll b able to bring up the grade logged in the computer.

That's rough (but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel with the extra credit and more chances!) we've all been there where we know it and our excitement about that gets the best of us maybe?? (hence carelessness)

I did take statistics. I took it during the summer so it was M-TH 8-11am, test every TH. I was fortunate to get a very good teacher! He's the reason why I learned to really enjoy math. The teacher can make a world of difference with subjects. I'm not sure how I'd describe statistics based on difficulty because it was different than any other math class I had due to the excellent teacher. I did have to study and do the homework problems every single night (and sometimes I repeated the homework problems).

Thanks for the study tip! I'm SO disorganized right now. That's part of the problem. I have no time to organize and clean.
