Tulsa Single Mom needing school advice

Published

I am a Single Mom who is going back to school and I'm hoping to get some advice of some of best nursing programs in the Tulsa area. I am using financial aid as well as my veterans benefits for school but even with that i am on a major budget and wanting advice on what would be the best school for the money. I am currently attending TCC for my basics but have not heard many good things about their nursing program. I have looked into Connors and Rodgers State but didn't know if maybe their was a better option or if anyone would recommend one over the other.

Also as of right now I have a 4.0 and most of my basics completed does anyone know of any scholarships or how i could possibly find some that could help me with school and living expenses while in school?

My number 1 advice to any potential nursing student is to stay away from the "for profit" colleges like Platt, Breckenridge, etc. They are very bad news. As far as TCC, OU, Rogers state, etc my opinion is that you will get out of nursing school what you put into it. TCC may be the cheapest option I think.

You can PM me for more information if you like. I am a nursing instructor.

On scholarships, google it or check with a counselor at TCC. They should be able to help you. Or look around allnurses. Good luck! I am proud of you for going to school as a single mom.

If you're still checking into scholarships for nursing, if you're Native American or a descendant, you should check into the Indian health services scholarship.

I received a scholarship through the Workforce in Muskogee that pays for my education at Connors State College. It may be worth looking into if that is your within your local area. Or maybe try a workforce agency in your area.
