Tuition/Loans with less than perfect credit

Published

Hello,

I am in the process of applying to CRNA school. A big worry for me is financial aid. I am certainly not proud of this but I have a past bankruptcy (2 years old) and afraid this is going to hinder my finacial aid. I have read on this forum about the many types of private loans availavle...This sounds perfect to help pay for school but they are credit based. The federal financial aid I will receive is not enough to cover tuition as well as cost of living. Any advice....Has anybody else been able to secure a private loan with less than perfect credit? I have been able to refinance my home as well as obtain credit for a new car since the bankruptcy discharge....So maybe thier is a chance?? I just don't want to go through all the obsticles of getting accepted into school and than finding out I can't go because of money....

ps...I'm not a bad person....I just made some stupid financial decisions.....

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jo

I think you will be able to obtain private loans, but with a co-applicant only.

Good luck.

You will have a ton of loan options. Though you may not get a stellar rate you will get the loans. Try as hard as possible to clean your credit now. Pay off any collections, close credit cards that you rarely use, close all the retail cards, slim it up a bit. Dont worry about the rate because you are prob. going to refinace 1 yr after graduation anyway. You will get the money, just get into school and you will find it. Dont not apply because you dont think you will get it.

We're lucky up here. My credit sucks but I got a loan through the gov student plan.

Phew !

Good luck !
