If you are considering attending an accelerated program, look into this program! I started August of 2008 and I will complete the program in August 2009. The instructors here in Odessa are absolutely fantastic!
The instructors bend over backwards to help you succeed and if you fail a test or assignment, they have procedures in place to make sure you succeed! You work one on one with a preceptor who is already a BSN for your clinical experience. Faculty come and check on your progress and visit with your preceptor often. It has been stressful and I won't say there haven't been times that I've cried. BUT, it's all worth it in the end! Right?
I found information about this program in the Sunday paper and thought it sounded just too good to be true. I'm happy to say that it is absolutely true!
They offer programs in several locations: Odessa, Austin, Lubbock, Abilene, El Paso. I might be missing one... If you already have your Bachelor's Degree and you interested in going into nursing, check into this program! You can find information and requirements by searching for TTUHSC 2nd Degree in Google. Good Luck!

WOW...I've been waiting to hear from someone actually IN this program....I'm applying to the Austin program in Jan....hope I meet all the pre-recs....
How are the online classes?
When I've talked to some of the ladies at the school...they mention that is 100 hours per week and 2-3 days of 12 hour shifts.....
how many hours do you spend on the computer everyday and what are your clinicals REALLY like....3 FULL days?
and do you get any breaks? Holidays? weekends? Do you work AT ALL???
thanks so much

I applied for the January 2010 admission for this 2nd degree program. I'm incredibly nervous! They posted a new video on the TTUHSC 2nd degree website that says it's 20 credit hours plus 20-25 hours of clinicals. I heard clinicals are anywhere around 8 to 12 hours per shift.
Right now, I'm taking pathophysiology online with TTUHSC and it's quite a challenge, but it's a good insight as to how the classes will be once in the program.
I'm extremely nervous, as I have my interview on the 17th of this month...then it's basically a waiting game until the end of this month to hear if I got in.
Good luck to us both!
