Trying to get a count of nurses who got public reprimand after a DUI

I am a 25 yr. career nurse who got a DUI 3.5 years ago. I am going to try to get a public reprimand and was hoping to see if any of you got one or knows someone who got one. First offense in California. Im just beginning to research this and will gin=ve info back as I find out. Thanks

I guess a public reprimand is not a well known issue or maybe folks that recieved no longer post on recovery sites. I hope the later is the case because Im getting discouraged. CA BRN is brutal !

I work with a license defense attorney who practices in three states. If a nurse is reported to the BON after a DUI they'd be lucky to get only a letter of reprimand. All three states require an evaluation by an addiction specialist (an MD or licensed addiction counselor) and then require some kind of monitoring for a period of time based on the outcome of the court case and the recommendations of the addiction specialist. Some monitoring agreements are short (6 months) for those not diagnosed with dependence, while many states are moving to 5 year agreements in those diagnosed as alcohol or chemically dependent. A license defense attorney with experience dealing with the BON would be your best source for answers to your questions. If you have a DUI attorney, be sure they have represented nurses before the board before allowing them to represent you if the BON becomes involved. I've seen inexpereinced (meaning non-administrative law/ no experience dealing the BON) attorneys make things worse, not better. Go to the American Association of Nurse Attorneys web site for names of experienced attoneys in California (taana.org).
