Trying to find a job in a doctor's office.

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello hardworking nurses! I am a new nurse and I started working about mid july until present as a per diem nurse in an LTC. I rotate being in long term and sub acute unit doing 3-11 sometimes 11-7am. I find the job very stressful but being young, I have a lot of energy in me and running around like a ping pong ball doesn't bother me that much.

I really want to work in a doctor's office with a lower stress level than LTCs so I went around and handed out resumes about a day ago. The nurses/staff was really busy in almost all the MD offices ive walked so I didnt think i'd have much luck talking to a supervisor or the MD with the long line of patients. So i left my resume and took the MD's card and went on to another office. I do plan on calling them back but I'm not sure if a day is enough or should i wait until about two or three more days before i call back.

I was looking up doctor's offices in my area the other day and found a ton of them here in central jersey. I just walk in and talk to the receptionist and leave my resume and luckily one offices I went to was looking for someone to hire. So I got a call today and set up the interview which is tomorrow. Hopefully I get the job, fingers crossed!

I landed a job in a doctor's office! yay! the pay can't compare to the one i get from the nursing home but I don't mind since it's a less stressful job. My doctor also has 4 different offices in 4 different counties in new jersey which i think is kinda excessive... the drive every wednesday is about 35-40 mins the rest of the week is about 15 to 20 mins which isn't bad. He also said that he will increase my pay in 6 months by i dont know how much. One thing is that the doctor is always late and he lets his patients wait an hour or two! because he sits at the computer doing other stuff. I feel horrible, we would tell him that the ptients are ready but its like he hears nothing! I've been working for him for about a week now and I've seen one patient yesterday walk out because he couldn't take the wait anymore. :(
