hi. I have been dismissed from the college of nursing in nyu.

My gpa is 2.7 and i am trying to find another nursing school to transfer to. I was wondering what other nursing schools are good in United States that I can get into. I have not expected this so I am really lost and worried. I don't know what steps I need to go through and what formal documents I need to prepare either. I finished my 2nd year of college and was supposed to start my clinicals; however, since I have received a C- in Microbiology, I have been dismissed from the program. Please help me. I am really desperate and in need of help ;(

p.s: If I go to other state for nursing school, do i get the RN license in that state or can I get the one for NY?

you can find lists of rn programs in any state by going to the website of a state's board of nursing and accessing their list of approved nursing programs. you can find the website of any state board of nursing easily through allnurses. simply click on the little arrow next to the "resources" tab at the top right of this page. a drop down menu appears. click on "boards of nursing". a page comes up with links to the boards of nursing for each state.

most colleges today have websites and lots of information about the college is available online. once you are on a college website, go to the online nursing department to find nursing program admission information. you then need to contact each nursing school to get more specific information. there will usually be contact persons and phone numbers listed on these websites. these college websites will have college admission and transfer information on them as well. many have their college catalog and class schedules online as well.

once you complete rn school you decide which state you want to be licensed in. you then apply to take the nclex exam and for license with that state board of nursing. so, for example, if you go to nursing school in indiana, but will be moving back home to ny after you have graduated, you will apply for your license and to take the nclex with the ny board of nursing not with indiana. each state board of nursing web site has very clear instructions on their sites on how to apply for your very first license by nclex examination. most nursing schools often assist their students with the application process for the nclex, however, if you are doing something different from everyone else in the class (going to another state) you will most likely be responsible for doing the entire process on your own. while you are searching for the lists of rn schools on some of the state board sites, take a look at some of the instructions for applying for a first time license by nclex.
