Hey all,
I'm in my second semester and my instructors have been telling us that we need to start thinking about where we would like to do our preceptorships next semester and that we should pick somewhere that we would want to work.
Out of the options presented so far, I could either pick:
A. A sub-acute unit in a hospital where all of the patients are in a vegetative state. It would be considered acute care experience, which would be good experience, but the pay is extremely low.
B. A pediatric doctor's office connected to a large hospital chain where I wouldn't get to harness many of my skills since they have a lot of limitations for their LVNs but the pay is very, very good.
C. A post-acute rehab/LTC facility that is pretty disorganized and short staffed. Good way to practice my skill set and the pay is just a little low.
D. An Urgent care run by another hospital chain. More like doctor office work (I think?) and the pay is about the same as the rehab/LTC place.
There could be more choices coming up but for now this is what I'm looking at. I have no idea where I want to go. I do have two young kids and a fiancé who doesn't make much money so things are tight in that department. What would you choose? Why?
Thanks in advance
