A couple of days ago I brought my mother to the ER. She suddenly became diphoretic, short of breath and described burning and icy pain tingling through her extremities. Since she has a family history of cardiac problems I was concerned it was an atypical presentation MI. Upon our arrival EKG, chest x-ray and cardiac enzymes all came back normal. She is only in her mid forties and is going through menopause. Could this simply be hormonal or does anyone have any other ideas?

The nurses here can't diagnose online due to liability issues but I can say that my mom had something similiar and it ended up being an anxiety attack.
